Generally speaking, there's no limitation to the number of hours an employee can work in a particular day or in a week. Unless they are in a specific class of employees where the regulations state that they have to get a break such as miners, or people working in high-stress jobs or dangerous jobs. The general rule is that there's no limitation. The issue comes up with how you pay them when they work in excess of 40 in a workweek. Those are the issues that you need to be aware of.
