What is retaliation and how can I prevent it?

Retaliation is exactly what it sounds like. When you take a negative action towards an employee for making a complaint or taking some protected action. How do you prevent it? Training is key. Your HR staff, your managers need to understand that when an employee has a concern or raises an issue about the company, that they need to take it seriously and they need to make sure that they are not taking any negative action against an employee that is not warranted.
